Nashville's Lambchop have been making amazing, weird, beautiful country-tinged compositions since forever (well, more like the early 90's) and they're making a rare Detroit-area appearance on Monday night at the Ark in Ann Arbor. There are a million reasons you should go - not the least of which being Lambchop is one of the most underrated bands I've ever had the pleasure of falling in love with. I last saw them play with Yo La Tengo at a seated show at the Majestic in the late 90's and it's still one of my favorite concert experiences of all time. The band's brand new album on Merge records is Mr. M (their eleventh or so) and it rates up there among their best material. If you're currently thinking, "I'm curious about this Lambchop band now. I wonder if perhaps a popular alternative rock magazine might have recently posted an insanely long article about them so that I can get up to snuff?" You are totally in luck! The band is actually guest editing MagnetMagazine.com this week, and they kicked things off with an insanely long article. Feeling too antsy to read a lot of words? I understand. Well, you may enjoy watching mini-interviews with Lambchop mastermind Kurt Wagner about each song on the new record. Videos like this:

I also highly suggest watching their new video for the song "2B2" which uses a lot of footage from their recent European tour. This will give you a good idea of what all the fuss is about, and why you should go to the Ark on Monday:

Sold? Excellent. I'll see you there.

Lambchop play the Ark in Ann Arbor Monday April 23rd with local favorite Kelley Jean Caldwell. Doors are at 7:30pm. Visit the Ark's site for ticket info.
