Following the news that Kid Rock had been booted as the grand marshal of the Nashville Christmas Parade after calling Joy Behar a "bitch" during an early morning segment on "Fox & Friends", he took out his pocketbook this weekend in hopes of swapping resounding jeers for some holiday cheer.
The 47-year-old rocker reportedly relieved $81,000 in layaway balances for over 350 families at the Dickerson Pike Walmart near his home in Tennesee.
Kid Rock credited filmmaker Tyler Perry for the good deed inspiration, as Perry had also paid off some Walmart balances last week at several of the chain's Atlanta locations, totaling over $430,000.
"Great idea!" Kid Rock tweeted at Perry Friday morning. "I followed your lead and paid off the layaway at my local Walmart in Nashville. Merry Christmas and God Bless You!"
Rock, who was replaced by "Waffle House hero" James Shaw Jr., as the Nashville Christmas Parade grand marshal, will make an appearance at a nearby parade on Dec. 15. According to the Tennessean, Rock contacted the organizers of The Leiper's Fork Christmas Parade in Willamson County to see if he could participate in their annual event. However, Rock won't be serving as the event's grand marshal as that role has been given to John Schneider, the actor behind Bo Duke in Dukes of Hazzard.
"He has some friends out here, and we're wild and wacky, eclectic and fun," director of the parade, Laura Musgrave told the Tennessean. "This parade has never been about politics — it's a Christmas parade."
The Joe Dirt actor also appeared, unironically, in Bill Anderson's video, "Waffle House Christmas" released last week, in which Rock plays a mischievous fry cook. The country music legend, Anderson, told USA Today, that Rock is a "great actor."
