Just announced: Booker T at El Club (yes, *that* Booker T!)

Tickets just went on sale for Booker T. Jones (of Booker T. and the MGs fame) at Southwest Detroit's brand new hotspot El Club on Nov. 6. Buy your tickets here; they are $50, but this is an absolute legend in an intimate environment with a great sound system.

It can be argued that it was Booker T. Jones who set the cast for much of modern soul music. On classic Stax hits like “Green Onions,” “Time Is Tight,” “Hang ‘Em High,” and “Melting Pot”, the multiple award-winning organist, producer, and writer pushed the music’s boundaries, refined the stuff to its essence, and then injected it into the nation’s bloodstream.

Outside of the band, Jones made the charts as a solo artist also lent his trademark keyboards to many artists ranging in genre from Ray Charles to Neil Young. He also produced albums for Rita Coolidge, Bill Withers, Willie Nelson’s celebrated Stardust and more. His Willie Nelson records are phenomenal things; they even made one of the best Christmas records ever recorded together.
