Original founding member Jesse Shepherd-Bates (JSB Squad, Mick Bassett & the Marthas) has rejoined the Satin Peaches. As the band's Aaron Nelson told MT: "We're now back to our original lineup and can't wait to get things rolling. Deep down, I think we all knew this would be happening someday. We're going in the studio soon to record our new material. We'll keep you posted. It's been way too long since we've been able to release any new material!" the new lineup's first show is this Saturday, November 28th, at the Magic Bag in Ferndake. Tickets are $8, with doors at 8 p.m. Supporting acts are Matt Black and the Muggs. Check out our cover story on the dudes from last winter by clicking here.

*Speaking of the Muggs, they'll be headlining an upcoming free show at the newly-reopened and remodeled Alvin's in the Cass Corridor. That's right -- in case, you haven't noticed, the old club is back. The new owners spent the past summer cleaning, painting, "sanitizing and scraping off the 'funk," with a grand opening scheduled for early December. (The establishent is also returning to its 1970 roots when it was "Alvin's Finer Delicatessen" by opening for and serving lunch daily.) The official grand opening will feature a concert by local legends Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels (with special guests Radar Pilot and DJ Richie on Saturday, Decmber 5th. Tix are $30. After that, the venue plans to host one show per month featuring local popular bands. The series kicks off on Saturday, December 12th with the aformentioned Muggs dudes (with special guests Super Dollar); a show the by the Hentchmen will follow on Saturday, January 16th. Alvin's is located at 5756 Cass Ave.; Detroit; 313-638-6300. Here's a link to our cover story with the Muggs, since we seem to be on a roll here...

*And on the "local legends" tip, tomorrow night, Thanksgiving eve -- Thursday, Nov. 25th, to be exact -- local "psych-soul-folk" legend Rodriguez is headlining a party at a VFW Hall (just like those Thanksgiving eve parties back in the good old days!) in Southwest Detroit. The complete address is 2501 N. Campbell. Also on the bill are soulful wonderboys, the Party Stompers, led by MT's own Michael Hurtt, as well as Long Tall Lou and DJ Savage Matt. Show's at 9 p.m. Admission is $5 dollars for non vets; $3 for vets...

*P.S. Finally, speaking of "reopenings," Jacoby's downtown is open for lunch again, following their flood last summer. Several MT editors are quite happy about this development... Jacoby's is at 624 Brush St., Detroit; 313-962-7067.
