"Aretha! A Grammy Celebration for the Queen of Soul" will take place on Jan. 13 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The details of the star-studded tribute were announced Thursday by the Recording Academy and include performances by Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, SZA, John Legend, Alicia Keys, and Patti LaBelle.
The special event, hosted by actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry, and co-produced by Clive Davis and Grammy's director Ken Ehrlich, has yet to receive a broadcast date but is slated for a 2019 release.
"We're approaching this show with extremely mixed feelings of sadness and joy, two qualities that over my 37 years of working with Aretha were often present," Ehrlich said in a statement. "Our hope is that we will be able to share her remarkable musical and cultural accomplishments through her own words and music as well as through the performances of an amazing group of musical artists who will gather to celebrate her rich musical heritage."
Additional performers will include Yolanda Adams, Shirley Caesar, Alessia Cara, Kelly Clarkson, Common, BeBe Winans, Brandi Carlile, Chloe X Halle, H.E.R., and Janelle Monáe.
