It would appear that even Mumford & Sons are sick of Mumford & Sons' schtick

According to the Guardian, Mumford & Sons' third album has been produced by a guy from Simian Mobile Disco ("James Ford, who has racked up past production credits for Arctic Monkeys, Haim and Jessie Ware.") The album will have far less banjo and a lot more synthesizer. And the group wrote "some of the album’s 12 songs in Brooklyn with the National’s Aaron Dessner." So, what's the deal, guys? What about all of your fans, huh?

Perhaps they've been listening to the Fall, and taking singer Mark E. Smith's criticism to heart? Perhaps they realized that the thousand and one banjo-and-vest-wearing acts they've personally inspired to form in Michigan alone have diluted their brand? Or maybe they accidentally heard Dock Boggs

Regardless, you can pre-order the album now, from the group's website.
