Our old pal -- and former MOJO Magazine editor-in-chief -- Paul Trynka will be at the Detroit Public Library this Wednesday night (April 30th) to discuss one of this area's favorite sons and the man who basically invented punk rock, Iggy Pop.
Trynka is the author of Open Up and Bleed, due out in paperback in the very near future, which many consider the definitive Iggy biography. It's certainly the best up to this point in time. The press release for the event claims Trynka will be discussing "the enormous role Ann Arbor and Detroit played in the development of the alternative music scene and the death of the hippie dream." The event -- which starts at 6 p.m. and takes place at the Edison Branch Library (18400 Joy Rd., Detroit) -- is free and open to the general public. Call 313-852-4515 for more info or click here.
