The alt-rock gods have spoken — Pixies and Weezer have teamed up for a co-headlining tour. While both bands have some new-ish music to play, there’s no doubt that both will tap into their extensive hit-filled catalogs. Even Pixies frontman Black Francis has adoration for Weezer, saying in a statement, “We’re all big Weezer fans, so we’re really looking forward to this summer. We have a lot of respect for [them]; they’re not afraid to take risks with their music.”

While both bands are legends in their own right, leave it to Weezer to completely resurrect themselves this year by going viral with a cover of Toto’s 1982 hit, “Africa.” The Wombats are also on the bill.

Weezer and the Pixies will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 13 at DTE Energy Music Theatre; 7774 Sashabaw Rd., Clarkston; 248-377-0100; 313presents.com; Tickets start at $21.
