Goober & the Peas will bring their special brand of "cowpunk" to Metro Times' Pig & Whiskey event on Saturday, July 19. (Never heard of 'em? Before he was a White Stripe, Jack White was known to play drums for these guys in the '90s.) Be prepared to get covered in hay. (Don't ask.)
The event — which runs from Friday, July 18 to Sunday, July 20 — brings barbeque, whiskey, beer, and music to a blocked-off stretch of East Troy Street between Woodward Avenue Brewers and the Emory. Other headlining bands include national acts like critic darlings Heartless Bastards and Justin Townes Earle, who just released a record with Queen of Rockabilly Wanda Jackson.
The bill also includes Detroit-area bands the Beggars, Pony Show, the Hand Grenades, Blaire Alise & the Bombshells, and the Infatuations. The full line-up is available at the Pig & Whiskey website.
