Golden girl Kacey Musgraves visits the Royal Oak Music Theatre
UMG of Nashville
It’s been a “Slow Burn” for Grammy Award-winning country star Kacey Musgraves, who released one of the most critically acclaimed records of 2018. The former Nashville Star competitor — Musgraves came in 7th place during the show’s 5th season in 2007 — discovered her sweet spot on her third studio record, Golden Hour, which finds the 30-year-old confessing to feeling “happy and sad at the same time” and compares love to a velvet Elvis painting. (“All I ever wanted was a little magic/ With a good laugh, jet-black sparkle in his eyes/ You’re my velvet Elvis, I ain’t never gonna take you down,” she sings.) Musgraves last visited Detroit for a performance at Little Caesars Arena last year in support of One Direction cutie Harry Styles. This time around, it’s her rodeo.

Kacey Musgraves will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10 at Royal Oak Music Theatre; 318 W. Fourth St., Royal Oak; 248-399-2980; royaloakmusictheatre.com; Tickets are $39.50+.
