Some troubling news. We just received word that Grammy-winning Detroit producer Steve King (best known for his work with Eminem ... which, of course, is how he scored the Grammy) has been admitted to St. John Hospital with severe pneumonia.
King (who is also a guitar-playing member of the current lineup of seminal Detroit punkers, the Ramrods and was recently remixing the Go 's "Caroline" for the band's new video) is on antibiotics and, according to a source, "seriously ill."
No other details at this point ... but we'll report 'em as we get 'em. Here's hoping for a very speedy and full recovery for a favorite native son.
In related news, Don Was, another Grammy-winning Detroit producer, was scheduled to be in town October 20th through the 23rd with a film crew to shoot the Ramrods, the Go and the Muldoons at King's Studio 54 South studio for Was's My Damn Channel Website. We're hoping and keeping our fingers crossed that Steve will be well enough by that time for the shooting to proceed as planned.
