Yuno Moodie is going through some shit. Or at least the on-the-rise 27-year-old Floridian was when he wrote his debut EP Moodie released on Sub Pop earlier this summer.
On Moodie, Yuno explores the dissolution of a relationship through his love of early 2000s influences like Animal Collective with a dash of emo and Tame Impala catharsis for good measure — all of which accumulate into a lush narrative of an artist searching for his identity. However, Yuno does not lean on his influences. In fact, he writes, performs, records, and engineers his music, but he also creates all of his music’s companion visuals, proving he is one artist to watch — and listen — for.
Yuno will perform at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7 at the Underground at DIME; 1265 Griswold St., Detroit; 313-223-1600; dime-detroit.com; Tickets are $12-$14.
