Artificial Sweeteners is this British band’s fifth full-length album, and it sees them return to a synth-driven style after taking a live-band approach on the Ventriloquizzing predecessor. The name of the record clues you in on the way the band isn’t ever going to shy away from the sugary sweet tunes that have carried them this far. The minimalist krautrock vibe is still there too — it’s like Kraftwerk fell into a pile of happy powder. Not everything is as it seems with this slightly sarcastic band, but it’s fun to just dance along anyway.
