Still thinking about the one that got away? Well, you're not alone. The latest sonic musing from chillwave darling
Vespre will have you dragging the past well into the future
— and it's not nearly as heavy as you might think.
The musical project of multi-instrumentalist and artist, Kaylan Waterman,
Vespre's new single "Lovers" channels an epiphanic moment from early '90s cinema starring Whitney Houston or Meg Ryan. Powerful, danceable, and bursting with certainty.
Waterman says that "Lovers" is about the romantic turbulence of love in her late 20's. "It's about realizing that love lost and gained is more of a cycle than a beginning and ending. We're all passing each other by on the road to somewhere and, for better or for worse, those lovers never truly leave us," she explains.
Listen to "Lovers" below.
Vespre will perform at Marble Bar on Wednesday, Feb. 28 with special Guest Mahogany Jones and Kathy Liesen at 8 p.m.; 1501 Holden St., Detroit; 313-338-3674; eventseeker.com; Tickets are $10-$12.
