A cool part of Detroit made it into the New York Times two Sundays ago. No, it wasn’t for any literary achievement from the Motor City, although it was related to the lead book review in this past Sunday’s lofty Sunday Review of Books.
The featured book was Las Vegas native Charles Bock’s first novel, Beautiful Children, which hit the stores and websites today (February 5th). The highly-anticipated and already critically-acclaimed novel is about lost children in Vegas. The book is so anticipated, in fact, that it not only got a review
but Bock also got a big feature story in the Times’ highly-regarded Sunday Magazine the week before the review was published.
The story was interesting but, visually, we already knew that Bock was a cool guy from the accompanying photo that ran with the piece.
Hey, ya think Wendy Case knows this guy?
