A ton of local talent will entertain Detroit at the New Center Park this holiday weekend, including the Sights, the Rogue Satellites, Electric Fire Babies (pictured left), and the Wrong Numbers.

Jaye Thomas of the Rogue Satellites told City Slang that he's looking forward to the event because, "we will be playing in a beautiful park filled with beautiful city people. NCP has given us the opportunity to expose our music and our video to a lot of fresh new faces while taking part in a great Detroit summer tradition."

At the time of writing (on Saturday morning), the sun is radiating over Metro Detroit, so whether you wind up at the New Center Park or the Stars & Stripes Fest in Mount Clemens, the weather doesn’t look like it’s going to be an issue. Of course, I’ve probably just cursed both events. Better to check out the weather report before leaving.

Other bands playing include Phantasmagoria, the Strange, Patrick Davy & the Ghosts and the Legendary Creatures It’s gonna be sweeeeeet.

Also very interesting – former Destroy All Monsters man Cary Loren will be performing with his band Monster Island at the Public Pool art space in Hamtramck on Saturday night. Also performing is Metal Dungeon. Admission is free but donations for drinks are welcome.
