Birmingham-based attorney Henry Baskin will be donating some of his cherished and valuable records to the Detroit Historical Society, proving that lawyers do indeed have a heart. (Hey, even we are not above the occasional lawyer joke).
Fair play to Baskin though. “From gold records like Eddie Kendricks’ Boogie Down to platinum album Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On and original album covers for Motown artists like Rare Earth and Frigid Pink, Baskin, who acquired the artifacts during his many years representing noted Detroit and national celebrities and Motown artists, will join the Society’s CEO Bob Bury to present these works, which will be installed in the soon-to-be unveiled Allesee Gallery of Culture, an addition made possible by the Past>Forward campaign.
It all happens on Monday, August 27 at 11 a.m. at the Detroit Historical Museum on 5401 Woodward. Baskin will hand over the records and tell a few stories.
