Two blogs for the price of one today, peeps. On May 12, Kid Rock will team up with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for one night only in an attempt to raise $1 million for the DSO. It’s one of the more unlikely alliances since Deep Purple and the Royal Philharmonic.
According to the press release, “the unprecedented pairing of Kid Rock, Leonard Slatkin – “America’s Music Director” – and the men and women of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra will take the stage of Detroit’s historic Fox Theatre for a one-night only fundraising concert to raise critical funds for the legendary orchestra. The idea was originally conceived by Kid Rock and Rock Ventures Chairman Dan Gilbert to help save the DSO. Tickets are available for $100, $150, $250 and $350 and a limited number of “Rock the Symphony” VIP packages, which include premiere seating and access to an exclusive after party, will be made available for the event.”
Kid Rock said that, “As a musician, and of course a Detroiter, I am proud to be supporting this longstanding cultural institution. And while I know these ticket prices are more than what my fans are used to paying, I am confident that whatever happens when we put the Twisted Brown Trucker Band, a 80 piece orchestra, and “Bawitdaba” together will be well worth the price of admission.”
Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 3 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased at OlympiaEntertainment.com and Ticketmaster.com.
