The NME is reporting that the FBI has now officially classified fans of the Insane Clown Posse, the juggalos, as a gang.
The FBI’s 2011 National Gang Threat Assessment Report has identified the juggalos as a “concern to law enforcement”. The report says, “Most crimes committed by Juggalos are sporadic, disorganised, individualistic and often involve a simple assault, personal drug use and possession, petty theft, and vandalism. However, open source reporting suggests that a small number of Juggalos are forming more organized subsets and engaging in more gang-like criminal activity, such as felony assaults, thefts, robberies, and drug sales."
The whole thing is, of course, ludicrous. Like them or loathe them, juggalos are kids who love their music. Many of them might be troubled kids, sure. But a gang? This is much like calling Dead-Heads a gang.
