On Tuesday evening, City Slang joined Ann Delisi for her Listening Party at the Majestic Cafe in Detroit.

As ever, a good time was had by all. As we sat and assessed new music from local and national artists, Brent Mckay of the Strange wandered the gathered crowd to ask for their opinions. In many cases, we differed.

City Slang brought with us songs by rockabilly titans Rio & the Rockabilly Revival, death metallers Writhing, alt-country band Heartbreak Dallas & the Unfaithfuls, and The History of Pan!c, featuring Panic of Lettercamp.

All of those songs were received fairly well, with the exception of Writhing who went down with this crowd like a broken elevator. Still, it led to an interesting discussion about the differences between power metal, thrash metal, speed metal, death metal and black metal.

Following that, Doop & the Inside Outlaws performed live and were, as ever, awesome. Doop crooned and twanged his way through a 45 minute set that perfectly showcased his own take on romantic alt-country. Awesome.

Thanks to everyone who came out.
