First off: Happy Halloween from Mr. Bruce Springsteen!
You probably already know about these already, as it's so late in the day, but I promised to post about both...so here are the two hot shows taking place tonight on this scariest of nights: The Von Bondies are at the Crofoot tonight with a whole bunch of local bands masquerading as more famous national bands -- it's the Von Bondie's first Detroit appearance since last July and their first since signing to a new label; and the Go are hosting a record release party tonight at the Magic Stick, featuring the Haunted Beat Band (which is Bobby and John from the Go along with Danny Kroha and the drummer from the Readies), along with Magic Shop, Infinity People and more.
Tomorrow night, the Hentchmen will be playing their 16th anniverary celebration at Northern Lights Lounge, along with Silverghost (check out Mike Ross's excellent review of their recent single in this week's issue). Speaking of Ross, his band Pinkeye will be at the Park Bar tomorrow night as part of the Duende! CD release party. Wildcatting (I love that band) is also on the bill. And John Sinclair will once again be performing with the Pinkeye dudes. Speaking of Sinclair, his old pal (and mine) legendary poster artist Gary Grimshaw created the graphic for the Motor City Music Factory's "Rock All Souls Judgement Day Costume Ball" at TWH Metals, 6450 E. McNichols tomorrow night. BYOB with a donation of $6 for admission. On the bill is a band comprised of former members of (Mitch Ryder's) Detroit and Destroy All Monsters, along with SRC's Gary Quackenbush, the Cetan Clawson Revolution and numerous others. Doors at 7 p.m. For more info, e-mail [email protected]. I'd post Mr. Grimshaw's stunningly beautiful graphics...but our tech guy Casey is gone for the weekend...and I can't figure out how to transfer the damn thing.
Finally, we've been alerted to an All Saints Day in Hamtramck tomorrow night at Bakers Streetcar, featuring the Drinking Problem (damn, that Eddie Baranek gets around!), Four Hour Friends and Copper Thieves.
Eat lots of candy tonight and have a good one!
