A video posted to Facebook appears to show maggots crawling on a plate of almond boneless chicken at Wing Wah, a Warren Chinese restaurant.
The video, posted by Yvette Williams, was accompanied by a short account of what Williams claims happened during her Friday meal.
In an email to Metro Times sent several hours after the story ran, the restaurant claimed there were no maggots in the food, and seemed to suggest that Williams just wanted a free meal.
Krista Willette, assistant health officer for the Macomb County Health Department, told Metro Times via a spokesperson that the office did receive a formal complaint about the store and sent out an inspector to investigate. The officer didn't find any issues or code violations, Willette said.

"The customer came in and ordered a dinner for 4 ($39.45 + tax). They ate the soups and egg rolls. Then, they complained about the Almond Chicken after they were full. I asked her to show me the worms on the ACTUAL Almond Chicken dish - she could not find any. The only worms were on her phone. Then, they informed us that they were not paying for their meal AFTER they were full. We told them they can leave without paying the bill ($39.45 + tax + tip).
The customer's aunt (with 2 others) were also dining at the restaurant at the same time. They were sitting at a different table. When the aunt came up to pay her bill, she told us that she has been coming to this restaurant for years and has NEVER had a problem. Her aunt is a regular and comes about once a week."
