The Spice & Tea Exchange is bringing a world of handcrafted spices and teas to Grosse Pointe with the grand opening of its newest location at 17037 Kercheval Ave.
This specialty shop blends its seasonings in-house and offers an extensive selection of teas.
The store, owned by Sara Biery, will kick off its debut with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, followed by mocktails and tastings throughout the day.
Biery, who left a corporate career to pursue her passion for tea and spices, said the store is a personal and meaningful venture.
“I was looking to do something I connected to on a deeper level,” Biery said. “And tea has always had a special place in my life. My grandparents started this lovely tradition of gathering together in the evening and catching up over tea. My mother and I continued that tradition over Saturday morning breakfast. It holds warm memories.”
Biery’s goal is to bring that same sense of connection to her customers, while also highlighting the health benefits of tea and spices.
“Whether they are looking for something to help them relax in the evening, something to spice up tonight’s dinner, or exploring a new flavor, it’s our mission to create and share in the experience of a more flavorful life,” she said.
Shelves are lined with traditional herbs, spices, and handcrafted signature blends mixed in-store. Customers will also find infused sugars, honey, syrups, and an expansive selection of teas, which can be sampled at the in-store tea bar.
In addition to its diverse offerings, the store is hosting a series of events and promotions leading up to its grand opening:
Jan. 12–18: 10% off all teas
Jan. 15: "Mindfulness with Tea" event
Jan. 19–25: Spend $35, get a free 16oz tea
