Whiskey, beer, and tequila all got their day in Royal Oak this year, now it's wine's turn. Sip Savor Stomp, Westborn Market and Metro Times' semi-annual wine tasting event, is happening this Saturday night inside the Royal Oak Farmers Market.

Much in the vein of its sister events, Sip Savor Stomp is a tasting event where guests can sample myriad wines of all colors and varieties. There will be over 150 wines available to sample from 90 different wineries. There will be special limited and hard-to-find selections, as well as bottles you can pick up at Target, Meijer, or — better yet — presenting sponsor Westborn Market. In fact, guests can purchase bottles and even cases at Sip Savor Stomp via the independent grocery store.

Sip Savor Stomp helps guests get acquainted with both different varietals as well as different brands. With the holidays right around the corner, it's a great place to learn about which bottle is best to bring to Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, when it will be served with ham and mashed potatoes, and which is better for that work party where there will be cheese and crackers aplenty.

To help get an idea for food pairings that work with wines, there will also be light hors d'oeuvres available as well (that's the savor part). Artisan cheeses, chocolates, and wine-inspired cuisine from local restaurants come with the price of your ticket.

Sure, it's not quite Christmastime yet, but this event does have a festive feel. Proper attire is somewhere in between cocktail and casual, so if you're going to wear jeans, don't forget the sweater and tie. To further that warm and cozy feeling, live music (that's the stomp part) fills out the event, along with games.

While Sip Savor Stomp is an event for everyone (seriously, you don't have to know a thing about wine to enjoy this event) there's also something for all you wine connoisseurs. A special VIP hour takes place 60 minutes before general admission, and during that time four tables of special wines and champagnes will be available to the smaller crowd. VIP guests can expect cabernet and chardonnay from Chimney Rock, Cakebread, and Stag's Leap, champagnes from Moet Imperial and Veuve Cliquot, and wines from worldwide brands like Two Hands, Bertani Villa, and M. Chapoutier Chateauneuf-du-Pape. California reds will be represented by Duckhorn, Trinchero Meritage, Belle Glos Clark & Telephone, and more.

Of course, general admission guests won't be left wanting either. Their wine list includes brands like Jail Break, Saved Red, Dreaming Tree, Save Me San Francisco, Barefoot, Leelanau, St. Julian, Oyster Bay, and many more.

Sip Savor Stomp takes place on Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Royal Oak Farmers Market at 316 E. 11 Mile Rd, Royal Oak; event runs from 7:30-11 p.m; VIP doors open at 6:30 p.m.; tickets are $65 for VIP; $45 for general admissions; discounted tickets at Westborn Market; sipsavorstomp.com; 248-202-4662.
