Who doesn't like free

If you speak to practically anyone who visits Pittsburgh for a day, they'd probably tell you Primanti Bros. is perfect. If you've never been, now's your chance: Next month, the company marks the grand opening of its 35th location in Taylor — and there's a sandwich giveaway: Primanti said today the first 100 customers inside the Taylor shop — its first in Michigan — will receive a free sandwich.

“It was only a matter of time before we took Primanti Bros. on the road,” said David Head, Primanti Bros. CEO, in a statement Thursday. “We could not be more excited to begin to grow in Michigan with our first restaurant in Taylor. And for those fans willing to join us for our opening tailgate – we’ve got a great day planned.”

When the shop opens Aug. 3, Primanti says it's also allow tailgaters to convene, and the first 100 will receive early access to the restaurant at noon. It'll then close briefly and reopen by the late-afternoon, the company says. Tailgaters will be provided food, beverages, and more.

Any tailgate-goers apparently also have a shot at becoming part of a newly-minted Taylor 100 club — which Primanti says entails a year's supply of free sandwiches. Anyone gunning for the 100 Club has to hang at the new shop until noon to receive the coupon book.

The coupon book entitles each member to one free sandwich per week for a year, equivalent to about a $400 value, said spokesman Ryan Wilkinson.

The company says it's second location in Metro Detroit will open this September in Novi. The Taylor shop — which, unlike the original location will operate as a full-service restaurant, with a bar, TVs and a patio indoors and outdoors — is located at Southland Center, 23000 Eureka Road, Taylor.

“We don’t take ourselves too seriously,” said Head. “We’ve got big, two-handed sandwiches like nothing you’ve seen before, a full menu of burgers, pizza and wings and a stocked bar with some of the best specials around. Honestly, it’s about good, simple food and a great time.”
