Pokē Pokē Sushi Unrolled plans spring opening in Midtown

A new location for Pokē Pokē Sushi Unrolled is set to open on Woodward Ave. this April.

Their menu options primarily include sushi, with a twist. Rather than traditional sushi rolls, Pokē Pokē serves bowls containing sushi ingredients, without the traditional seaweed wrap. Customers can select one of their signature bowls, or they can customize their own sushi bowls by selecting their own rice (or a spring mix), protein, vegetables, sauces, and toppings.

“We’re foodies – we travel and search to find new places, all of the time, and realized that our beautiful hometown of Detroit is in dire need of a neighborhood Poke restaurant,” reads Pokē Pokē’s website. “Our concept was created on the basis that it is imperative to add fresh and nutritious-packed items to your diet while still pleasing your palette.”

The restaurant will open inside the old Firehouse Subs restaurant, which is in the same plaza as Fifth Third Bank and Community Pharmacy, below Studio One Apartments.

“Pokē in itself is an up and coming dish and Detroit is becoming a thriving culinary scene that we are excited to a part of,” said Remy Asmar, marketing director for Pokē Pokē.

The small chain opened its first location in Southfield in July, followed by another location in Farmington in October. They are also planning to open a location in Troy in March and another location in Ann Arbor this summer.
