Unless you’ve been living under a culinary rock, then you know that food pop-ups are deliciously in vogue. Giving pop-ups their due — and an opportunity for hungry folks to do some serious taste-testing — is Planet Ant’s Hamtramck Pop-Up Food Festival brought to fruition by Carlos Parisi (Aunt Nee’s Salsa, Khana) and Dr. Sushi himself, Nick George. The two-day event will highlight the diverse culinary stylings of more than 15 local food vendors, including the Grim Feeder, Preeti’s, Pietrzyk Pierogi, Autobahn, and the ladies behind Street Beet — whose solo pop-ups have been known to wrap lines around the block, with diners in search of a taste of their vegan take on any number of popular fast food items.

Hamtramck Pop-up Food Fest begins at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 and at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 12, at Planet Ant; 2320 Caniff St., Hamtramck; 313-365-4948; planetant.com. Suggested donation of $3 at the door, food is for purchase.
