Amado Guadarrama has been serving the Majestic complex for more than a decade now, and he's been playing in Detroit bands for twice that time. So, if this face is a little familiar to you, that's the reason why. The Magic Stick bartender plays bass in the Bill Bondsmen and guitar in a brand-new band called Devious Ones — and the rest of his time is spent behind the counter at the Magic Stick. There he hosts Tuesday nights, deemed "The Big Takeover," when nothing but punk music is on the menu, whether it's being performed by a live band or a DJ.

A classic Detroit venue, the Majestic complex isn't the place for fancy craft cocktails.

"We specialize in cocktails that have an 'and' in the middle," Guadarrama says with a laugh. "You know, rum and Coke, Jim Beam and ginger."

But occasionally he finds himself moved to create something special.

"Sometimes I get inspired and make a cocktail based on a punk band," he says. Case-in-point is the burly Guns of Brixton. The Clash-inspired cocktail is pretty bare bones. And it gets the job done. To create something a little more sippable, Guadarrama adds ice, grenadine, and a straw and calls it a Ruby Soho.

Drink Recipe - "Guns of Brixton"

1-1/2 ounces of Bacardi 151

Splash of pineapple juice

Splash of soda water

Shake with ice, strain, serve as shot. To create a Ruby Soho, add ice and grenadine.
