As a dining destination, Ferndale just keeps getting more interesting. The latest addition, Zeke’s Rock and Roll BBQ, is already a tremendous hit.
But in an interesting twist of fate, the restaurant that’s slated to open across the street from it in spring will be the opposite of (and, if you will, the antidote to) a place serving plates piled high with meat.
The emphasis would seem to be on healthy living, as it’s owned by local cardiologist Dr. Joel Kahn and “America’s Holistic Heart Doc,” and his son Daniel Kahn. The restaurant will serve a plant-based menu with oil-free options in the old Maria’s Front Room, spilling over into the Just 4 Us space. Plans call for the restaurant to be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, with a full bar. So go ahead and gorge yourself at Zeke’s. In a few months, you may only have to cross the street to find that path to redemption.
