Why go out to eat and then hit the bar when you can have the best of both worlds? Avery's Tavern is newly known for its craft bar and delicious menu. During the day bring the family for a nice warm atmosphere on the restaurant side and come back for the late-night games, live music, and specials at the bar.

After a 10-year process, Jason Luttman and his family opened Avery's Tavern in May. "We didn't want to be the regular sports bar. We wanted to cater a little toward everyone, especially women," says Luttman. "If you have the girls here, the guys are gonna come too."

Avery's has 24 HD TVs and according to Luttman they are the only bar left in town that shows UFC fights. They also have a large menu for both food and drinks. The scratch kitchen has everything from salads to ribs to fresh salmon and everything is original, including their dressings and sauces. "We try to gear more towards women by making everything a little lighter in here, including the food," says Luttman. Some of the favorites are the prime rib sliders and the bourbon sriracha glazed salmon.

As for the drinks, Luttman says they work very hard on their craft cocktail menu, and his favorite is the Bourbon Berry Smash or the Smokey Sour, made with Jameson and egg whites. The bar has 26 craft beers and two domestics on tap that continuously change to give regulars a good variety.

Sit outside on the patio while the good weather lasts. Luttman says they hope to expand the patio next spring and put in an outdoor bar along with fire pits to seat large crowds. They also have a banquet room that can cater to 40 people for any type of event.

Come for Monday Night Football, karaoke on Tuesdays, Wednesday DJs, trivia on Thursdays, and live music Friday and Saturday.

"We are restaurant industry people," says Luttman. Avery's gives half off discounts to restaurant industry workers Sunday-Thursday after 9 p.m. and 20 percent off after 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
