The folks at Campus Martius Park just released some big news. Fountain Bistro, the restaurant located inside the park, will close to make way for a new restaurant concept that's set to open this summer.

According to a press release, the new restaurant will be owned by 800 Parc, LLC, a joint venture between Zaid Elia of The Elia Group and Matthew Stiffman of Centerpoint Ventures.

"Campus Martius Park receives more than two million visitors and hosts 900-plus events each year, and we’re thrilled to be at the epicenter of this energy and growth," says Elia.

The restaurant will be a new and different concept, according to Shiffman.

“As an entirely new concept, the new restaurant will be an experience that’s unique to the city and help further promote Detroit as a culinary destination," he says.

The building will undergo a series of renovations and upgrades before it re-opens, including enclosing the outside patio, installing a new window system that will allow for open-air dining, enlarging the kitchen, and putting in a a floor, ceiling, and bar, according to the release. The Beach Bar and Grill, Rink Side Bar, and Arctic Zone will continue to operate inside Campus Martius Park, but will be relocated.

The Beach Bar will open for the season on May 5 and will serve an extended menu while the restaurant is closed for renovations.
