Dozens of breweries and wineries will be slinging libations at the inaugural Detroit Beer & Wine Fest in downtown Detroit’s Grand Circus Park, featuring limited and seasonal specialties for beer aficionados and wine lovers.
“Detroit is experiencing an astounding renaissance and we hope to do our part by bringing more events downtown,” said Regina Stocco, the fest’s co-producer, in a statement.
Attendees will have plenty of options: General admission ticket holders get 15 sample tickets, a commemorative pint glass, and a keepsake photo; VIP ticket holders can arrive an hour earlier than the public for an exclusive sampling, organizers said. The VIP ticket has 20 beverage sample tickets, along with the pint glass and photo.
Some of the region’s best-known breweries are expected to be featured: Griffin Claw Brewing Company, Dragonmead Microbrewery, and Cheboygan Brewing Company will provide limited and seasonal craft beer samples, organizers say. Hard cider lovers can get in on the action, too: Angry Orchard, Woodchuck, and Uncle John’s will have sweet and spicy offerings. Wine fans have Duckhorn Vineyards, Kim Crawford Wines, and Louis M. Martini Winery to choose from.
Additional drink tickets will be sold at the event, and local vendors and restaurants will be selling food on-site.
A portion of the fest’s proceeds will be given to Healthy Detroit, a nonprofit public health organization created in 2013 to promote healthy living in the city.
“Previously we’ve produced events at Capitol Park, Campus Martius, and Belle Isle,” said Stocco, “for Detroit Beer & Wine Fest we are at the beautiful Grand Circus Park, teaming up with dozens of Michigan breweries and wineries to showcase local product and celebrate the rejuvenation of our city.”
The Detroit Beer & Wine Fest will take place at Grand Circus Park, at 1601 Woodward Avenue in Detroit, on August 12, from 7:30-11 p.m. (beginning at 6:30 p.m. for VIP’s). Tickets available at detroitbeerandwinefest.com.
