Detroit City Distillery Homegrown Rye

Back in October 2015, Detroit City Distillery added this rye whiskey to the liquors it serves out of it's handsome Eastern Market tasting room and we were immediately impressed.
Made with rye from a family-owned farm in Eaton County, the spirit is then distilled in freshly-charred white American oak barrels. Distillers also use special methods that highlight the unique grain.
A spicy rye, Homegrown has hints of coffee in the nose and tastes of caramel with a rich, buttery finish. It's a great sipping whiskey and can be enjoyed straight up for $8 inside the tasting room. Of course, you can pick up a bottle at liquor retailers across the state of at-home consumption. Consider mixing it with a McClary Bros. Drinking Vinegar for a handcrafted and completely Michigan-made shrub.
