The makers at Detroit City Distillery are "bursting with excitement" over the release of their latest spirit Homegrown Rye. This newest edition is now available in the Eastern Market tasting room this week and bottles will be available for purchase next week. Later on in the month, other retail locations throughout Michigan will get to sell it.

Some notes on this rye, it comes from a family-owned farm in Eaton County. It's aged in a freshly-charred white American oak barrel, using methods to highlight this unique grain. This is something for the coffee fans, as the spicy rye has got hints of coffee on the nose, tastes of caramel and a rich buttery finish. We can't wait to see what kind of fall the barkeeps come up with using this stuff.
