Batch Brewing Company, a nanobrewery in Corktown, plans to open mid-week next week according to a post on their Facebook page. When we spoke to one of the brewery's partners, Stephen Roginson, at the beginning of January, he said he planned to open Batch's doors by the end of the month. Now, just a week into February, it seems his prediction wasn't too off base. Today, Roginson says they'll probably open either Wednesday or Thursday next week around 4 p.m.
They'll have eight beers on tap including a black IPA, Vienna mild, barely wine IPA, dry Irish stout, a pale ale, and a Belgian golden, according to Roginson.
They'll also be serving a limited menu that will include Bavarian pretzels and arancini. They'll have more edible offerings as they grow, he says.
Batch got its start with a crowdfunding campaign back in the spring of 2014. The Indiegogo fund raised $25,000 and later they were awarded $50,000 by Hatch Detroit. But that was only a fraction of what Roginson and his partners would need to open the brewery. In the end it cost $600,000 to open Batch, according to Roginson.
