A new restaurant helmed by two of the biggest names in Detroit's restaurant industry is coming together in Birmingham.

The restaurant, called Pernoi, is a product of Luciano DelSignore and Takashi Yagihashi, and is taking shape in the former Café Via space on Maple, the Free Press reports. When it opens sometime this spring, expect a high end, global cuisine spot that chefs say will be built around the world's finest ingredients.

"It's not just white tablecloth. It's hospitality at the highest level that I could've ever imagined it to be," DelSignore told the Free Press.

The 61-year-old Takashi opened Tribute in Farmington Hills around 20 yeas ago. He won a James Beard Award, and the restaurant quickly set the standard in metro Detroit dining. One of his next project's, Chicago's Takashi, would earn him a Michelin star before it closed at the end of 2014. Takashi now runs several Slurping Turtle locations in Chicago and Ann Arbor, and Noodles by Takashi Yagihashi in Chicago.

DelSignore, 55, is best known for his Southfield fine dining restaurant, Bacco Ristorante, and he's also grown the Bigalora Wood Fired Cucina chain in recent years.

Pernoi — from the Italian phrase per noi, which means "for us" — will likely offer an à la carte menu, along with a special prix fixe menu.

Expect French champagne, absinthe, and Japanese whisky at the bar.

Construction is underway on the 2,700-square-foot space, and the open date is contingent on the new liquor license.
