Urban lumberjacks rejoice: A bar catering to your passion is in the works in downtown Ferndale.
Former Local Kitchen and Bar owner Brian Siegel and partner Geoff Kretchmer are opening Detroit Axe, a venue that – as the company put it on its website – offers "Metro Detroit's first wholly dedicated, competitive axe throwing arena."
Detroit Axe will provide 12 lanes that customers can rent individually for $35 to $40 for a two-hour tournament, or $20 per hour. Beyond that, it'll offer darts, shuffleboard, bumper pool, and arcade games,
Crain's reports. Staff will also enforce a strict one drink per hour limit in the axe venue.
It's planned for a space above a new restaurant concept in the former Local at 344 W. Nine Mile Road. The new restaurant, called Corner Tavern and Game Room, will offer food, a full bar, and approximately 600 board games.
On its menu expect dishes like French dip sandwiches, kale-smoked chicken salads, skillet cornbread, doughnuts, and macaroni and cheese,
Eater reports.
Local abruptly closed last month and the new space is expected to be ready sometime in early November.
