Friends of the Rouge Volunteers make a positive impact on our environment! Volunteers will be installing coconut-fiber weed mats around recently-planted baby trees. Weed mats protect the native tree saplings their first few years. This is a series of pop-up events happening along the Lower Rouge River between John Hix Road and John Daly Street, north of Michigan Avenue in Inkster and Wayne, Michigan. Exact work location on each date will depend on the progress of previous volunteers' work! Registered volunteers will be emailed their specific meeting location and parking instructions the week before their scheduled workday.
