Teen HYPE 20th Anniversary Gala

Teen HYPE is thrilled to announce its 20th anniversary of empowering Detroit area youth. This year, we will mark this milestone with an elegant waterfront gala. Our 20th Anniversary Waterfront Glow Gala will take place on August 22, 2024, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at The Waterview Lofts.

The Glow Gala is one of several events that Teen HYPE has hosted to celebrate 20 years of excellence in the service of Detroit youth. The Glow Gala will feature musical entertainment, delectable cuisine, and heartfelt acknowledgements as we commemorate two decades of empowering youth in Detroit.

Tickets are available at Givebutter.com/HYPEGlowGala and all sales will benefit Teen HYPE’s youth programming. Our guests are encouraged to attend dressed in their chicest all white formal attire with a splash of neon to illuminate the night.

Earlier this year, we presented our 18th annual stage play, “Strung.” The play delves into a captivating narrative set in a beauty and barber salon, a cultural cornerstone in the Black community, to explore the profound impact of social media on our lives. Through compelling storytelling, the play sheds light on how social media can bridge generational gaps, shape youth perspectives, and influence our well-being.

The play and the Glow Gala are just some of the many events aimed at helping us raise awareness of our organization as well as to help us raise the funds that are essential for us to offer dynamic after school programming year after year--because we believe that our powerful, educational activities raise young people’s collective consciousness.

Since 2004, Teen HYPE has reached more than 35,000 Detroit-area youth with programming designed to help prepare them for the world. Every year, hundreds of students in dozens of schools receive adolescent health education that promotes future-oriented thinking, avoiding risky behaviors, and honoring their voice. We have also trained more than 600 teens as Peer Educators who apply their leadership in service to their communities and other young people.
