Rumprollers

The original Rumprollers began in 1987 and was founded by drummer/composer Mark Holen (originally from Flint,Michigan). They played primarily in one club in lower Manhattan Tribeca New York City called the Nancy Whiskey Pub. It was a mix of Cumbia/Salsa, New Orleans R&B, Latin Boogaloo and rock and roll. Many of the tunes were originals written by various members of the band...it was swinging!! Now we take a big jump to 2022...Holen's friend and college roommate from the 1960's, bassist Pete Ostle, originally from Detroit, contacts him to do a possible Latin Boogaloo Jazz Funk project in Washington,D.C. At the same time, David Huber, Flint saxophonist and long time friend of Holen, begins floating the idea of doing something similar in Michigan. Holen and Ostle will be coming to play at the Cadieux Cafe on Wednesday, August 2, at 7 pm. With the help of David Huber, they have assembled a new edition of the Rumprollers including some fine players...pianist, Arlene McDaniel, trumpeter, James O'Donnell, on congas, Steve Morris, of course Mr Huber, on saxophone, and bassist Pete Ostle as well as drummer Mark Holen. They'll be playing some original funky Rumproller tunes and classic Latin Boogaloo. We hope to see you there and be sure to bring your dancing shoes..!
