Protest for Palestine

The Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) and local chapters of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) will host a rally and march against the U.S. government’s support for Israel’s brutal military rule, including a recent increase in military assistance to Israel.

Washington, which already provides over 3 billion in military aid annually, has continued to enable Israel's far-right government to intensify its decades-long military occupation and apartheid system against Palestinians. For 16 years, Israel’s inhumane closure of Gaza has suffocated the two million Palestinians imprisoned there, while Israel has repeatedly launched military assaults that have killed thousands of civilians and injured tens of thousands more.

PYM will talk about how decades of Israeli impunity for war crimes and crimes of humanity against Palestinians is necessary context for Palestinian armed resistance.

“We are calling for an end to U.S. complicity in Israel’s escalating repression against Palestinians and suffocating closure of the Gaza Strip,” says Zaya Maqdessi, a member of Palestinian Youth Movement. “Any form of resistance by Palestinians against their colonial occupiers is an internationally recognized legal right, and there can be no peace without an end to the root cause of violence: Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land.”

PYM will be joined by Students Allied for Freedom and Equality at University of Michigan, Students United for Palestinian Rights at Michigan State University, Students for Justice in Palestine at University of Michigan-Dearborn, Wayne State University, and Oakland University, Palestinian Solidarity Group at University of Windsor, and members of the Palestinian and Arab community across the metro Detroit area.

Palestinian Youth Movement is an independent, grassroots organization which builds with the transnational Arab community in exile towards the liberation of Palestine through mobilization, institution building, political education, cultural programming, and building relationships with various sectors of our community. We work towards the complete liberation of Palestine and the right of return for all refugees.
