Directed by acclaimed documentarian Alexandre O. Phillipe, Lynch/Oz explores Lynch's obsession with the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz, and how recurring images and themes from that movie—saturated color, red shoes, howling winds, a longing for home—became part of the director’s own iconography and his unique, highly stylized, often unsettling films. Phillipe’s use of split-screen montages to show this evolution feature beautifully restored footage from Lynch’s greatest films, including Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Mulholland Drive, and Twin Peaks.
