Love Saves the Day - Rocksteady Disco V-Day - Celebrating 55th Anniversary of The Loft
On Valentine’s Day 1970, 25-year-old David Mancuso threw a rent party at his Manhattan loft. This low-key house party (inspired by the Harlem rent parties of the Great Migration era) set the blueprint for underground dance parties to come. This was long before disco, house, and techno were mass-marketed genres– David just selected music that he knew his friends would want to dance to all night. He worked endlessly to provide the highest quality sound possible, and catered healthy food for his partygoers to nourish them for a long night of dancing and building community.
Now, 55 years later, Rocksteady Disco pays tribute to the floorfather of its underground dance culture. To celebrate they’ve brought in a couple of their across-the-pond friends Eddie C and Elado to bless the decks alongside an opening b2b set from Eddie Logix and Peter Croce.
