With a name like Eulaulah Donyll Hathaway, it is no wonder this Chicago lady is best known by her shorter name, Lalah. However, you can call her by her other moniker, the First Daughter of Soul, if you wish. Whatever the name, the amazing voice is the same. The contemporary R&B/jazz singer comes from a lineage of soul. She’s the daughter of classically trained vocalist, Donny Hathaway; a bloodline of soul so saturated that it led to Lalah winning the 2014 Grammy Award for best R&B performance, alongside Snarky Puppy, for their seductive “Something”.
