Jett Plastic Recordings is proud to celebrate their tenth anniversary of releasing vinyl in the Motor City with a two-night festival held at the Lager House in downtown Detroit. Jett Plastic, founded in 2012 by Jarrett Koral, has, to date, released over seventy-five vinyl records, all self-funded, and most by Detroit artists.
Riding off the success of previous Jett Plastic festivals held in 2017 and 2018, this year’s festival presents twenty bands across two nights with two stages. Essentially, non-stop music from 7pm-1am each night.
Supporting the event by playing are friends of the label, both old and new. Patrick Pentland of legendary Canadian power-pop outfit Sloan headlines Friday with the first ever US show by his new group Fuzzed Out, performing new songs alongside established Sloan classics. Playing alongside Fuzzed Out on Friday are nine other bands, including The Michael Weber Show (virtuoso guitarist from Cleveland, OH) and The ILL Itches, playing their first show in six years. Rounding out Friday’s bill are Vellows, Space Stars, the Ricky Rat Pack, Citizen Smile, DUDE, The Hourlies and Bitchkraft.
On Saturday, some of Detroit’s greatest music is featured, including headlining slots by both The Beggars and The Amino Acids. In support are The Idiot Kids, Checker, Troy Toma & The Lousy Lovers (ex-Trash Brats), John Sinclair and Jeff Grand, Checker, Brood X, BRENDA, After Dark Amusement Park and TROUT. The TROUT set is of particular interest, given that it’s the first performance by the Detroit-area favorites in five years.
With this festival, Jett Plastic strives to provide a gateway for those interested in the local scene so that they can see artists they would otherwise be unable to.
