For the Love of Strings

Chamber Music at the Scarab Club is excited to feature the NEW MUSE TRIO: violinist Gwen Laster (a native Detroiter!), violist Melanie Dyer and cellist Jake Charkey. This New York-based trio of classically trained string players, compose and improvise in free form. They perform 21st century works of Black composers and original music as a vehicle for social activism. The concert also includes the music of Hungarian composer Zoltán KODÁLY and French composer Jacques Féréol MAZAS, performed by Detroit Opera Orchestra’s Assistant Concertmaster Laura Roelofs, violinist Velda Kelly and violist James Greer.
