DSC 10: Celebrating a Decade of Detroit Sound Conservancy
When: Fri., Dec. 9, 8 p.m. 2022
Detroit Sound Conservancy celebrates 10 years of preserving, advocating, salvaging and sustaining Detroit Sound. All proceeds from this event, DSC 10: Celebrating a Decade of Detroit Sound Conservancy, will benefit the organization and the preservation of Detroit music.
Over 10 years Detroit Sound Conservancy has curated over 150 programs for thousands of attendees, preserved thousands of Detroit music artifacts physically and digitally. Further, DSC has purchased 1 historic jazz club, The Blue Bird Inn, that the organization is currently rehabilitating into our home as a music venue, community space and music archive.
On December 9th 2022, DSC will gather at UFO Factory for a night of intergenerational live Detroit music and storytelling as they look to the next decade of our work. To celebrate DSC is honored to be bringing some amazing intergenerational live Detroit music.
Duality/Detroit is the project based around Ian Fink (on keys and synthbass) performing a duo with a drummer. Sets are improvised live and a wide variety of covers ranging from jazz standards to house classics.
Made from cage free musicians, My Detroit Players, are free range funk that blends genres and bends organic emotions into mesmerizing sound experience. Savory and sweet sonic flavor!
Starting, closing and in and out of the evening we will feature DJ sets from none other than the Detroit Sound Conservancy Board of Directors themselves. This organization practices what we preach, no doubt. Sets will feature from our Treasurer Donna Gardner, our Secretary Chris Handyside and our members at-large Michael Fotias, Bart Bealmear and Damon Percy.
