The Detroit Youth Poetry Con is a celebration of creativity, community, and the transformative power of the written and spoken word. Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in dynamic workshops led by esteemed writers, including best-selling poet and essayist Ross Gay and Michigan Poet Laureate Nandi Comer. These workshops are designed to inspire and empower young poets to explore their voices across various genres and career paths within the arts.
The event will conclude with a special edition of InsideOut’s Visiting Writers Series at Wayne State University’s Hilberry Gateway Theatre from 7 – 8:30 p.m.
