Convening for Black Dance and Culture

The Convening for Black Dance and Culture is a biennial event that provides an experience for participants to learn through movement, engage with scholarship and connect with the broader arts community. Participants from across the midwest will visit Detroit, October 22-23, to partake in two days of intense workshops in traditional African dance and drum, taught by master dancers and drummers from Mali, Senegal, Ivory Coast, the Congo, and Brazil Join us on October 22 for a performance from Ayodele Drum and Dance from Chicago, IL., followed by an afterglow with sounds from Dj SassyBlaque.
