Better Cities Film Festival and PlacemakingX 10th-Anniversary Celebration

On Oct. 5, Better Cities Film Festival and PlacemakingX will kick off a joint 10th-anniversary celebration with a FREE screening of the feature documentary “The Place Man” at Campus Martius Park in downtown Detroit. The event is co-hosted by the Downtown Detroit Partnership. “The Place Man” (2023), directed by Guillermo Bernal, explores the roots of the placemaking movement, which is a collaborative process of people coming together to create impactful, community-powered public spaces. Originally launched in Detroit in 2013, the placemaking movement, now led by PlacemakingX, has expanded globally, with 33 regional and national placemaking networks.
